According to the 2024 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report, approximately 771,480 people are currently experiencing homelessness in the United States, or about the same as the population of Seattle, Washington. 

  • 24% of all homeless Americans (187,084) live in California (vs. 12% of the total U.S. population living in California).
  • 9% of all homeless Americans live in Los Angeles County (vs. 3% of the total U.S. population living in LA).
  • 39% of all homeless Californians live in Los Angeles County (vs. 27% of the total California population living in LA).
