California Work Opportunity and Responsibility to Kids (CalWORKs) Program
CalWORKs is a state welfare program with special initiatives serving the homeless in all 58 counties in California.
Operated by the LA County Department of Public Social Services, it helps eligible families receive short-term or ongoing assistance with housing, food, utilities, clothing, or medical care.
Families experiencing or at risk for homelessness may also qualify for a variety of housing-related supportive services, including rental assistance, case management, security deposits, utility payments, moving costs, interim shelter assistance, legal services, and credit repair.
